Tyree Glenn on Louis in London
I just listened to the recent release of Louis in London which consists of many previously unreleased Louis Armstrong recordings in the BBC. I had to look up who the trombone player was! It was Tyree Glenn. He really comes across as the primary complement to Armstrong’s playing and singing. He plays in a style that, in my opinion, is really lost in modern jazz (maybe I’m wrong). If you haven’t checked out this album I’d encourage you to give a listen. It’s on Spotify and probably elsewhere too.
I’m not a collector, I just have too many trombones….

Totally agree! It was a nice surprise to put this side on and hear Tyree so prominent!
