Practice Room Setups

Post by andesl10 »

Hi all, I'm curious to see and hear about other people's practice room spaces.
I've (hopefully) attached an old version of mine.

Is it a dedicated room in your house/apartment?
Do you use any acoustic treatments?
Is the "vibe" of your room important?
How much thought do you put into the practice space?

I practice in my little theater. That way I don’t bother anyone. 🙂

That's too cool! Does the practicing interrupt the movie watching experience?

With my aging eyes, that's where I would project the lead sheets for play along tracks.

We have a music room. There are harps and pianos in it. I just grab whatever stand is closest and practice in the middle of all the instruments.

Does anyone change up their spaces? Practicing in a church (big room) or outside?

My current practice room is a relatively large converted "living room" where about half of it is filled with cardboard boxes in various states of disarray. I actually really like the acoustics, being on the drier side.

My current practice room (once my now-adult son's bedroom; now a spare room for house guests; filled with trombone stuff as well as beds and furniture) is convenient but totally unacceptable acoustically. Absorbs all the sound. :weep:

If I really want to hear how I play, I have to move to our large high-ceiling living room or at least to our wood-floored family room.
