I took my Conn 88H into the repair shop just to get a new cork for the water key. The guy said he had a few things to do and could I come back in 30 minutes. I had shopping to do so I went and came back. He fitted the cork no problem but when I got it home and played it the slide is making a kind of scratching noise but only when moving between 1st and 2nd positions. Is it possible that some debris got into the tube while he was doing the cork? How dangerous is this for my trombone? What should I do about it?
Many thanks in advance for any help received! It's a fine trombone and I want to care for it the best I can.

I would run some water through the outer slide. Easy to do in the kitchen sink.

As Tom mentioned, rinse the outer & swab it, then also wipe the inner tubes!

The OP needs to find a more conscientious tech.
That slide never should have been returned to its owner in a condition that was worse than when it was received.

My slide tech is (justifiably) proud of his work. (He should be for the price he charges!)
Always demonstrates how smoothly the slide operates when he hands it back to me.

Swab out the outers and wipe off the inners. You should be doing that every few days anyway.
