In 1973 my father gave me the clipping from Metronome Magazine seen in photo #1 (dated 1957). I thought it was silly (I was 14 at the time) and put it away with other items he would pass onto me from time to time.
Fast forward to 2005, and while reading Bill Crow's book "Jazz Anecdotes - Second Time Around", on page 198 I find the following story (seen in photo #2).
