I am not entirely happy with my playing on that evening and didn't feel really comfortable on the horn as I had practiced so much bass trombone the days before.

And to add something on Erik: What he considers "didn't feel really comfortable on the horn" that evening is far beyond anything I could play at any point in time. And his large bore playing is also impressive!
