PadMu e ink sheet music reader

Post by marccromme »

Did anybody here try one of these?

https://www.padformusician.com/en/

I would be interested in a review of an e-ink based sheet music reader. ..

That's quite an obnoxious website! They don't even list the screen dimensions.

Interesting review here: https://www.tablets-for-musicians.com/padmu-4-review/. Seems fairly limited in utility vs. something like forScore on an iPad. The e-ink and long battery life would be nice, but I haven't run into any playing scenarios where I felt my iPad fell short.

Thanks for sharing the review. Looks like one should go with the Onyx Book X, same hardware, instead of. ..

E-ink sounds good except in low light settings.

It had better blow forescore out of the water, priced at €880. It says it has a front light, FWIW.

Deal killer, for me at least, excerpted from the review Mike referenced: "What's the point of having a large e-reader (or tablet) if the display area is reduced by large margins? Cropping in the PadMu Reader app is problematic: it is neither possible to crop each side of a page separately, nor to move the center of the crop area. The cropping function of other applications are much more efficient and pleasant to use."

The only shortcoming of an iPad running forScore that this device would remedy is readability in bright sunlight, but then I'm still using a first generation 12.9" iPad. A more recent model would have a brighter display.
