Re: Music Stand for Trombone
There is a version of the Manhasset stand that is offset.
Also, there's the RAT stand that is built offset.
Check with your local music dealer about ordering one since I'd bet nobody carries them.

Manhasset® ® Trombonist Music Stand
This Music Stand is specially designed for the trombonist. A neck connecting plate (in the back of the desk) is designed to be set to either side of center or at center to eliminate interference with the shaft and the trombone slide. This plate can be located either to the right or left side or at center for those musicians preferring to play with the bell down (closer to the stand) or with the bell up and to the left of the desk. The fasteners needed to connect the plate in the desired position are included.

A regular Manhasset with a Stand-Out extension works about as well. I use the Voyager style stand.

I don't know exactly what you want to do with the slide. For my home practice stand (a regular Manhasset), I just got one of these: K&M Trumpet Holder (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0064OSSB4?re ... tails&th=1). It at least gives me something to hang/lean the slide on with some degree of safety for a few minutes.
I think I need one of those offset stands -- but that would the third Manhasset I have around here and maybe the $100 is better spent on something else (like an addition to my mute collection).

Ah, I misinterpreted "with space on the side".AtomicClock wrote: ↑Wed Jan 03, 2024 4:15 pmI think he just wants to stop hitting the central post with it.

Better to just learn to stay away from the pole. You won't always be able to use your own special stand.
You can also drill out the rivets, drill new holes using the backplate as a template, and use 10-32 x 3/8 machine screws and nuts to put it back together.

I think this would work for me. I've got two stands and one stays home all the time.Doug Elliott wrote: ↑Wed Jan 03, 2024 4:25 pm You can also drill out the rivets, drill new holes using the backplate as a template, and use 10-32 x 3/8 machine screws and nuts to put it back together.
But Doug's right ... You probably can't be lugging one of these around to practices and performances all the time. And I don't hit the stand much any more ... or the shelf clamped to it ... or the wires from tuner and light ... or mutes scattered on the floor ...

Re: Music Stand for Trombone
I hold my trombone horizontally. So my slide is up next to my music!
It also means that if I hit the person in front of me I get them in the head, not the back!

Am I a trombone player who plays euphonium, or a euphonium player who plays trombone?

Re: Music Stand for Trombone
Generally the best technique. That's a drawback to playing tuba and euph.
