What horn is this?
Hey so I recently bought this super dinged up horn from a house sale, and I have NO idea what it is. It’s got a counterweight with a globe on it and the bell is engraved with an eagle and the wording “Pan American” “Elkhart” and “IND .U.S.A.”. Seems like it was once silver (it has since gained much “character”) and the tuning slide has a 37 engraved on it. Right under where you place your left hand thumb is the engraving “pat appid for” (no idea, that’s all I can read/understand) and the number on the slide is 10448. Please feel free to respond and let me know whatever it is that I bought. (I picked it up for 25$ and figured I might as well take it for decoration)

Pan American was a "cadet" (i.e., student) line made by Conn. Back in the day, lots of instrument companies had cadet brands. Conn had Pan American and Cavalier, H. N. White (King) had Cleveland, American Standard, and Gladiator.
