Greetings and obligatory posts

Post by bwgunia »

After several years on this forum I've decided to it's time to make it function properly if for no other reason than to see photos of instruments for sale. I didn't want to be hasty and as a result have lost track of how many post I have to make. Not having much to contribute anyway I just never got around to it.

In any case, allow me to introduce myself (insert Monty Python line here). For several years I was one of the editors of the ITA Journal. I am currently enjoying retirement in France and play with a few groups here.

Best wishes for your retirement from another retraité living in close neighbourhood to France.

And now to something completely different. You'll need three posts (if I remember correctly) to get the full monty. When you reply "Thanks" you will already have two of them. A suggestion for the third and last one required might be the name of a local wine that you could recommend. I'd appreciate that!

Replies count, then.
I live northeast of Bordeaux but prefer Cote de Rhone. Usually I buy based on price so I'm not sure I'd trust anything recommended by me.

Nothing wrong with a low price if the wine is good!

Côtes du Rhône - that's what I have in my glass right now :good:
As Posaunus remarks :D , not the price of the wine is important, only its quality.
Good luck searching!

Number 3:

My horns are: a King 2b I've had since I was in junior high school, around a '39 or '40.
3b I've had for about 20 years.
Bach 36bo
Blessing B98 - I found this horn on Ebay during the Plague. It's from the '90s and had never been used.
Thanks for the welcomes and responses. Can I see pictures now?

Congratulations!

After awesomely performing the Three Tasks, you are now empowered to see all pictures, videos and classifieds - at least I hope so. It's worth the effort. :hi:

Hey All!
I stumbled upon this website searching for a new trombone. I had all of my gear burn in a house fire this year except my Bach 42. I’m currently in a 10pc dance review band primarily playing weddings so I’m looking for a straight jazz/pop horn since the 42 is a little too bulky for the gig. Any pointers or advice would help!

You've stumbled upon a good place. There are always good trombones for sale here on TromboneChat.
Go to the "Forums" button at the top of the page, then scroll down to
"TromboneChat Classifieds" / "Instruments & Parts" and you'll find out what folks here have for sale.
We're a pretty honest, reliable bunch.

Thank you! Got to get a couple posts in for full access. Exited to get started shopping for a new horn, it has been a while.

Doing the same here! I'm sure I had multiple posts under some long lost and long-forgotten username, but I just became aware of the new poster requirements. I'll be a better contributor in the future, I promise!

Note that if you remember your old user name but forgot the password, any of us Sysops can reset that for you.

I’m doing the same. I picked up my horn again a few months ago after not playing for about 20 years. This chat has been an invaluable resource as I’ve worked to get my chops back. I wish this type of forum had existed when I was first learning to play. Thanks for all the useful tips.

Hi all. New here. Found this chat while doing some searches on how to play louder cleanly. There's good information here.
I've been playing regularly for 50+ years but still on the never ending road to be the best I can be.

If this is true, please consider putting a big notice at the top, similar to what we see in the Classifieds. Judging from the other threads in News and Announcements, it is a new or never-enforced intent.
