Horn Guys

Post by Posaunus »

I just received this e-mail from Steve Ferguson:

"What's up at Horn Guys?"

Not much, been taking a much needed summer break and simplifying life. Even the website is paused and relaunching shortly. Don't worry, there's more to come...

But really...we're ready to party now. At the same time, our dear friend Jim Self will celebrate his 80th birthday this month. Jim Self is tuba emeritus...everywhere. He's not just a tuba pro, but is truly a great educator and mentor. So we're pleased and happy to repeat the news that we're having a party and Jim is our featured guest. Please come by to...

HEAR Flubist Jim Self and guitarist John Chiodino play jazz, talk about music and life
SEE special instrument displays by Miraphone and Alexander - makers of the finest brass instruments
TRY terrific next-door-brewed beer from Del Pueblo Brewing and exemplary tacos by Urbano Mexican Kitchen
SPEAK in our open forum featuring Chautauqua of the Masters
CELEBRATE with great festivity among your colleagues, peers and friends

If that's not an occasion, we don't know what is.

Thursday August 24, 2023 Open House
Jim Self: Celebrating 80 years

Sponsored by Gebr. Alexander, Miraphone and BrassMavens.com

1-4pm - Open showroom
See our new instrument displays sponsored by Miraphone and Alexander
4-6pm - Jim Self and John Chiodini
6-8pm - Chautauquas

Conversation, tacos, beer, etc...

Best,
Steve Ferguson

Yeah, I'm on the wrong side of the country as well. Sounds like it'll be a great experience. Their Facebook page often posts pictures from when they go to the brewery next door. Reminds me of the trips I used to make to Dillon Music when I would check out some horns, maybe buy something, talk to people, and then go to the Brewpub down the street.

Word of warning to anyone interested in attending: parking in the complex where they are located is quite limited.
