Best source for 6B / 7B ?

Post by harrisonreed »

Hi there,

This might be a long shot but I'm wondering where you all might seek vintage King trombones. I know they occasionally pop up here, Brass Ark, and the HN White online store (is that store legit?).

I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a 6B or Duo Gravis silversonic, or a 7B silversonic.

Any other sources I'm missing?

I‘ve seen a few King bass trombones (not Silversonic though) pop up on European shops, try adding Van der Glas and Adams to your search list.

Are there actually any indy 7B/2107 SSz? Never seen or heard of one.

(I know there was a period when the DG was labelled 7B instead of 6B, but that's a different issue.)

Doug Bert at the Brass Exchange gets in some pretty nice vintage King trombones. I picked up a 70s King 4BF from him recently, and it’s a heck of a player…

He’s had a few 6B/7B in…but I don’t see them there often…

Yeah, sorry it was listed as the 1490S King 7-B Duo Gravis (with sterling silver bell) in the catalogue. But looks like a 6B

Yeah, Brass Exchange definitely had some in the past. Also Quinn had a Silversonic Duo Gravis until recently. There's currently one for sale at Elbblech if I remember correctly. He seems to have some old Kings as well every now and then. Lately I've seen a few being sold over here more privately on smaller "classified section" sites within Germany.
