Harmon-style Mute for King Duo Gravis?
Does anyone know if the Jo-Ral Bass trombone Harmon-style mute will work for a King Duo Gravis? Some bass trombone mutes dont work on this horn. The Jo-Ral bubble tenor mute doesnt work.
Thanks
Thanks

It should work. Not sure why a tenor mute not working is relevant.

On the Duo Gravis I can use a tenor straight mute and a (large bore) tenor cup mute with no problems. The bass trombone versions often didn't fit.

The big issue with any harmon-style mute is the short stem length compared to the width of the mute. I was just fitting a bass trombonist with this exact mute yesterday; assuming your Duo Gravis had a 9 1/2" bell (which I believe was standard on this model) I would think the Jo-Ral Wah-Wah bass mute would work well. As an aside, I also like the sound and response of this mute as it stays relatively responsive in the trigger/pedal range...

Interesting. I played a Duo Gravis for years and always used bass mutes-they fit perfectly.

I have a Duo Gravis and a Jo-Ral bass harmon, but I've not had occasion to use them together.
I will try it out and report back, but I think you'll be fine.
