Bach 36 New York

Post by wesleyrubim »

Hey guys, does anyone have any idea how much a vintage Bach 36 New York model without trigger costs? (super preserved btw)
I currently play a Thein maxim and I'm looking for a bigger secondary trombone and I was offered this one, but I didn't find many instruments of this for sale on the internet, so I have no idea of the price.

If anyone could help me, i'd be grateful!

Approximately new cost of a straight boutique so 3-5k depending on condition

3k-5k sounds right. Highly recommend playing it before buying if at all possible. The fact that it’s from NY times indicates it could be a very good horn. But that’s all it is, an indication.

I’m pretty set in equipment and have not been actively looking, not for Bach and not for 36, but if super well preserved as mentioned in the original post, (hardly any lacquer wear, no dents) I think this can go easily over 3k. I definitely have seen quite a bit more for the admittedly more sought after 42 (straight) but I do think the 36 is not too niche as that it won’t be interesting for many trombonists.

It certainly could. Notice I said approaching.
