I would be interested to know as well. I have an A47 slide (2016?) that sounds brighter than my 42 slide. It has the solid solder leadpipe. The newer ones may differ since they have the new removable leadpipes.

Also interested. When trying horns I preferred a 47 bell section with a 42 slide over the artisan slide.

Only difference is the leadpipe.

Not so. The artisan slides when introduced had smaller slide stockings than traditional 42 slides.

I think the cross-brace is also a bit different

I can check part numbers, but neither of those things will make much of a functional difference.

True, FWIW I've heard most players prefer a good 42 over a 47

I think the cross braces make a difference in tone. Using brass cross bracing (versus nickel) should add more core and/or density to the sound. It is a heavier alloy.

There must be a reason that instrument makers have experimented/switched the alloys for these braces and the cross braces on the bell section. Take a look at models produced by Bach, Yamaha and others. There have been alloy switches on cross braces.
