Shires 2GLW vs 2RVE bell?

Post by Bleek »

At the off chance that anyone has played both of these, can anyone talk about your experiences with them?

Unfortunately I’m not in a position to try. I currently have the 2GLW but a 2RVE has come up. The 2RVE was always the bell I thought I would like, and when buying my horn Sam Burtis was super helpful and the 2RVE was what he fell in love with and plays on his medium setup.

I don’t think it’s relevant but this is in the 8” bell/.525 world with a tru-bore.

Thanks :)

Did you ever try the 2GLW? Can you make comparisons?

So I own a 2GLW and a 2RVE had come up for sale that I can't try before purchasing. So was asking opinions at the off chance someone might have tried both. I have not played a 2RVE.

After chatting to Shires I decided not to take a gamble on the 2RVE.

I had a 2RVE on my very first Shires horn, over 20 years ago! I've never played a 2GLW, it would be interesting to see how they compare.
