Jiggs 2B vs 2B

Has anyone compared the Jiggs 2B (single bore .491/.491) with a regular 2B (dual bore .481/.491)? Impressions? I appreciate that the Jiggs also has a LW slide.

I’m thinking of having a slide rebuilt and am wondering if .491/.491 would be worthwhile.

Yes. Some of which is the LW slide, some of which is the single bore...

Lighter slide does what you'd expect for response/flexibility, at the cost of quite a bit of core. High slots a bit worse on the Jiggs (and you can hear it from the man himself sometimes - he can certainly get around up there, but the instrument can be a bit approximate above high D). Can take slightly more air than the standard 2B, but then doesn't quite know what to do with it when pushed. The sound when leaned on has a more airy/trumpety/cylindrical quality compared to the classic sassy 2B character.

A different concept from a different time - there's definitely a place for both.

I'd stick with the classic 2B dual-bore - but then I'm an old fogey traditionalist!
I love my still-pristine 1958 2B. Some day it will be passed on to a new generation as was Bach5G's. As is!

The Jiggs is too bloody light and can't get past a forte just like the Conn 100H.
