I’ve posted elsewhere that I recently acquired a 1952 King 2B. It’s in excellent shape, except for the inner slide tubes There is wear on both stockings.
I’d like to replace the inner slides. I assume getting parts is not a problem as they continue to make 2Bs. It doesn’t seem that it would be a difficult job for a competent tech but what do I know?
The slide is pretty good now, but I would like it to be better.
Advice?

If new tubes are exactly the same size then go for it. But make sure!

Re: New inner slide tubes for 2B
I have a 1972 King 3b that I've owned for 20 years, from high school, college and into my professional career. I've replace both inner tubes, one outer tube and the crook. The biggest pain was the crook, but slide tubes are easy. And now that I list that out, I basically have a new slide haha!
If I remember correctly, now this was about 8-10 years ago, each tube was around $100 each, and then I just paid for labor, which wasn't much more. A tech on this forum can chime in on what an updated price for a tube is now, but it should be a relatively easy job from a competent tech.

Re: New inner slide tubes for 2B
Indeed. Stocking wear shouldn't come from playing a clean, well-aligned, properly lubricated slide. Something is probably rubbing on them, either from misalignment or from dents or internal debris on the outer slide.

It was played for nearly 70 years. But thanks for the tip. I’ll discuss that with the tech.

Inner tubes for 2B are listed at $151 and $158 on the Conn-Selmer repair parts page.
