I'm pretty sure the first 42s came after the move.

I haven’t even seen any with the wider early Mt Vernon style engraving. There are NY 40s and 36s, but I haven’t seen any 42s.

The 42 wasn’t made before 1955, I believe the first one was made for Robert Lambert of the Chicago Symphony, Vincent Bach wanted Lambert to play one of his horns, but Lambert wanted a large bore like an 88H; initially Bach was reluctant to make a large bore Trombone, he thought the 36 was the perfect orchestral horn, but eventually he relented and the 42 was born.
