Silver Bach Mercedes II
I don't plan on buying it, but for $500, is it a good deal? It's in fairly good condition

I'd say that's about what it's worth.

There's more than one model of Mercedes II. Is it a straight tenor or does it have an f-attachment?

I would suggest passing on it unless you have a chance to play it first. One of the Bach intermediates, and I think it was the Mercedes ll, had the trigger placed behind the brace, and it was also bent back at an angle that made it very uncomfortable to hold. The stretch for the hand was noticeably more pronounced than on the Kings with F-attachments. Especially strange since it was supposedly designed with young players in mind.
Also, a standard small-shank mouthpiece did not fit in the receiver correctly, sticking out way farther than normal.
I have only had experience with one of these, maybe the one my student had was not typical.
