Wide slide small bore axe...

Do you know any (not boutique) "jazz" horn that has a slide wider than, let's say, the King 3B's?

I find wide slides more comfy to play, as I tilt the bone downwarts when ascending...

(With an Olds Super, the gooseneck end up on my ear... )

Besson BE 940 (the one with interchangable leadpipes)... it is not only equipped with a VERY wide slide but also one of the best Jazz horns. (the only one I have NEVER sold...and that says a lot...) The slide is lightweight brass (200 gr) and works as perfect as a Rath slide.
Another idea: bend you mouthpiece! That is what I do. That works very well, too.

I had a nickel "wide-glide" crook a very long time ago that I sold thinking I'd never put it on anything (because I had a Mt. Vernon Bach at the time, and I didn't want to torch it!). Kick myself for that every once in awhile! M/K drawing does have some bends that are on the wider side of small bores... they have the dimensions posted. I don't mind narrower slides so I wasn't specifically selecting for that, but I'm having a franken slide (almost finished!) with one that I can report on sometime probably early next month to see if it helped with ergonomics at all.

K&H BVL has a wide and very comfortable slide and is an excellent playing horn. It’s not a boutique horn either, but they’re not as common here in the US. It’s a German brand and is quite popular over there.

FWIW - the .500 and .512 models are wide (78.5mm on the chart in the other thread, thanks to your info!) but the .480/488 model is something more 'normal', probably 68-70mm-ish. I haven't played it, but I've seen one briefly in the flesh and it's definitely not as wide as the larger models.
