Used price guideline?

What are people using as a price guide for used instruments? About the only thing I've found is Reverb that carries history of sales.

Use sold prices on ebay.

I’ve used the search function on here to cross-check when buying/selling, it works pretty well if you search on „FS “ or „WTS“ plus the brand/model of horn you want to know about. You can also limit the search to classifieds etc.

Some people delete some or all info once a horn is sold, others don‘t, there‘s a decent amount of data on common and unusual horns at realistic prices.

I look for comps. Brassark and Dillons are usually pretty reasonably priced and have a pretty reasonable selection. Even if there isn't anything identical, you can figure out generally what you're looking at. 1990s Bach 42 is going to fetch way less than a 1957 Bach 42, smilar for Conns. Boutique are pretty interchangeable in terms of pricing if it's like for like unless the combo is really off-the-wall. Student horns are typically interchangeable too like for like (e.g. a F attachment fetches more than one w/o in similar condition).
