Paul Pollard to Join IU Faculty
As Chair of the Brass Department at the Jacobs School of Music, it is my pleasure to officially share the news that Metropolitan Opera trombonist (and Juilliard, Mannes and Bard faculty member), Denson Paul Pollard will be joining the faculty. Beginning in the fall 2017, Dr. Pollard will become a full-time faculty member, taking over for M. Dee Stewart who has recently retired after 37 years of magnificent teaching at Indiana University.
We are thrilled to welcome Paul as a colleague and excited for what the future holds for us at IU.

Wonderful news for the students at IU. I was fortunate in being able to catch a lesson from Dr. Pollard when he was in Seattle. We spent the hour working on air and slurs. I really enjoyed the lesson and his enthusiasm for teaching.

Exciting news! Yet another reason to attend IU. Ellefson, Lenthe, and now Pollard, what a team!

How things go around.
Paul returns to IU where his trombone teaching here at the University of Iowa, George Krem, studied.

Thanks for the clarification. I can see where having a teaching gig and not having to spend every weekend in an orchestra pit would have its advantages. They have a heck of a faculty at Indiana.

Not so fast. He's been granted a year's leave. After that???? Suppose that's up to P Pollard.

Yes, well, IF it was Indiana State University (Terre Haute), you might have a point........ Paint thinner and fertilzer plants. Regardless, it's going to be a great time at IU. Good for him.

It's ok Chris. It was implied bad language. It's so commonplace I didn't think I'd be an issue. Just surprised.

He posted on Facebook that he just played what should be his last Aida EVER. I took that as meaning he has probably made up his mind.
The easiest thing to do would be to ask him of course.

Chances are, I guess, he wouldn't return. However until it's a done deal....
