Tribute to Sammy Nestico - A Time for Love

Post by michaelpilley »

Here's the SuperBone Big Band featuring Eric Budd with our tribute to the great Sammy Nestico on A Time For Love.
Such a fantastic collection of amazing musicians from around the world, and you won't believe the notes Eric hits in his solo 😲

Bravo! I enjoyed that. The world certainly lost two of the very best.

Too bad parts of the solo part were obviously lip-synched.

Incredible playing though.

Thanks Andy, yeah I knew I really had to record this chart when Sammy passed. He's my absolute favorite arranger

Thanks Doug, yeah Eric did do the video after he'd recorded. It is very hard to do a clean first take, so I do recommend that they all mime their video. It makes for a better video in the end.

I haven't heard that version, but Naxos says it's a Bill Cray arrangement so I'm guessing not the same.

That would be Gil Cray.
Gil was in the band before my time and did a lot of great arrangements including some on the Bone Voyage record.
