Slide O Mix Light

Post by bubba7753 »

Still looking for the ultimate slide treatment.

In my bag of tricks i found the larger and smaller bottles of SOM Light. What was the purpose of the light version? and how did it compare to the regular slide o mix.

Thanks for your response

I think its supposed to have a thinner mix of either the big or small or both bottles. I was using it on a lw slide instead of the regular som. It seemed to work better.

It's a thinner mix of the big bottle. I had a UMI-era Conn 88H that was excessively tight in the slide from the factory, and the light SOM was the only thing that worked properly on it.

Today, we have a wider option of slide treatments available than just Trombotine (which I admittedly never used because I didn't like my fingers getting greasy), SOM and Super Slick (always applied too much and slowed down my slide, and by the time that I learned how to apply it properly I had already moved to SOM).
